It started with a promise to my granddaughter.
I never set out to start a business making blankets and cuddle companions.
For most of my life, I worked in the corporate world and never really thought of myself as a creative person. Then one day, my granddaughter saw a chunky knit blanket on YouTube and asked if I would make one for her. I said yes, even though I had never made anything like it before.
What surprised me was how much I loved making it. Starting with a pile of yarn and ending with something soft, useful and beautiful gave me a sense of peace and accomplishment I had not expected. After retiring from financial services, creating became an important new outlet and opened a part of myself I did not know was there.
But the reason I kept going was not only how creating made me feel. It was seeing what the finished pieces meant to other people. A blanket could become part of family movie nights or bring comfort during a difficult season. A cuddle companion could become a bedtime friend, a travel buddy or a keepsake a child carries for years.
That is what Tiani's Handmade is really about: comfort, creativity and connection.
I make each piece with the hope that it becomes part of a story, a memory or a moment that matters to you and the people that you love.
